A vile child abuser who left one of his victims feeling "dirty, worthless and used" has been sent to prison.

Stephen Law, from near Dover, attacked two young girls in the 1990s - even making one victim wear a thong as he performed his sick sex acts.

But the 49-year-old paedophile began his six-year sentence for acts of indecency with children while still protesting his innocence.

Law, of Milner Road, Elvington, was convicted by a jury at Canterbury Crown Court on seven child sex counts, which happened more than 15 years ago.

Judge Heather Norton told him: "These assaults were prolonged and repeated and you told your victims not to tell anyone – saying it was a secret. If they did, she would be taken away.

"One of your victims told the jury that she was scared. She said she felt dirty, isolated, worthless and used."

Another victim was left "so sick" she even contemplated suicide – and when the two eventually plucked up the courage to reveal what had happened, Law tried to claim they had conspired against him.

"It is clear that you have shown no remorse whatsoever," she added.

Barrister Christopher Sutton-Maddox told the court Law struggles to read or write, adding: "There is very little I can say on his behalf because this defendant throughout his trial denied any involvement in these allegations or in this criminality.

"He continues that denial and will no doubt continue it for the rest of his life. He denies ever committing these offences."

Mr Sutton-Maddox said Law was caught in a "Catch 22" situation because he could not receive help in prison unless he admits his crimes.

It was also revealed that other sex allegations had been made against Law dating back to 1986 but in the early 1990s he was cleared of some of the charges and the police couldn’t prosecute another case.
