People are being warned not to approach a man who has absconded from prison, and is known to have connections with several areas in Kent.

Martin Jones, 36, disappeared from Standford Hill, a category D open prison on Sheppey on July 9 last year while serving a sentence for burglary.

Among the prisoners held at Standford Hill are those who are approaching the end of their sentences.

Jones is described as 5ft 6ins tall, medium build with blue eyes. He has dark brown hair which is receding and is possibly shaven.

He has connections with the Dover area and is also known to go to the Leysdown, Iwade and Sittingbourne areas of Swale.

But police have renewed their appeal following several alleged sightings around Maidstone.

Police say people are advised not to approach him, but anyone with information should call DS Chris Dovey on 01634 792227 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
