An appeal for witnesses is being made after two men were assaulted in Dover town centre.

Arrests have been made in both investigations and officers need to establish what happened leading up to and during the two assaults on Saturday May 26 between 10 and 11pm.

A 22-year-old man from Dover was assaulted by two men near a take-away restaurant and newsagents in Market Square. The man reported being kicked and punched in the head and face. One of the attackers was carrying a black bag.

A 51-year-old man from Dover was left with injuries to his face and is having ongoing medical treatment after he was assaulted in an alleyway between a bank and jewellery shop in Cannon Street.

Three people were seen to walk past the alley at the time of the assault and just before the two attackers ran out of the alley. Those people may be able to help the police investigation.

Police have arrested two young men from the Dover area, aged 18 and 17 on suspicion of assaulting both men. They have been questioned and released on police bail until June 28.

Anyone who witnessed the assaults should contact Detective Constable Kirsty Martin at Kent Police on 101, giving reference ZY/14946/13.
