BBC's Antiques Roadshow films episode at Walmer Castle with broadcast journalist Fiona Bruce

Dust off your treasures today and have a great day out in the history-steeped grounds of Walmer Castle as the Antiques Roadshow comes to town.

Experts from the BBC One programme will separate the valuables from the replicas and they’re calling on Mercury readers to bring their objects and furniture down for filming.

Antiques Roadshow presenter Fiona Bruce said: “I am looking forward to meeting everyone who comes to our Antiques Roadshow at Walmer Castle and Gardens, seeing their treasures and hearing the fascinating stories that accompany them.”

“This will be my eighth year on the Antiques Roadshow and I still feel so lucky to be presenting the programme.

"Every week is different; a new location and thousands of new visitors. The only constant is the pleasure of the unexpected - we never know what will turn up, from the most fabulous Faberge to the most humble object with a riveting story.”

Some of Britain’s leading antiques and fine arts specialists will be on hand to offer free advice and valuations to visitors.

They are especially interested in anything with links to the Duke of Wellington and Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother.

BBC Antiques Roadshow executive editor, Simon Shaw said: “We are all looking forward to our Roadshow at Walmer Castle and Gardens, as it’s a Sunday we hope lots of families and people that can’t come to our weekday Roadshows bring their treasures to show us.

"It is 20 years since Antiques Roadshow last visited the south coast of Kent and we are delighted to be making our return to the area by coming to this spectacular Tudor fort.”

Doors open today at 9.30am and close at 4.30pm.

Entry to the show is free and no pre-registration is required.
