A pensioner reported missing at Whitfield earlier today has been found safe and well.

The police helicopter was involved in the search for 75-year-old David Russle, who disappeared after being seen in Sandwich Road, Whitfield, at 11.30am this morning.

Police said they were concerned about Mr Russle because he has a number of health conditions for which he requires medication.

They circulated his description and asked anyone who saw him to contact them.

But this afternoon they said he had been found safe and well and thanked all those who had helped in the search.
