In recent years it has been held at the Astor, where bands give their time for the cause.

At the time of his death, he was studying music at the DrumTech music school in London.

Proceeds from subsequent events have helped pay for scholarships for would-be drummers.

Mike Newman, Steve’s father, has liaised with Drum Tech, with his wife Bev, helping select students to receive the scholarship.

Confirmed acts for the 2016 event include The Hell, Black Art, Riskee and the Ridicule, My Life in the Making, Wicked Stone, Dutch Wives, and Spreading The Disease.

Stevefest will be at the Astor Community Theatre, Stanhope Road, Deal, on Sunday, May 1, from 1pm.

Tickets at £8 are available online at www.theastor.org or by calling 01304 370220.
