Deal: Firefighters tackle fire at a car salvage yard in Ellens Road

Around 40 firefighters tackled a blaze involving dozens of vehicles at a car salvage yard in Deal.

Police and seven fire engines were sent to the scene in Ellens Road shortly after 9pm last night.

Crews wearing breathing apparatus attacked the fire using three main jet hoses.

Kent Fire and Rescue said that as of 11pm good progress had made in bringing the blaze under control.

People living in the area were warned to keep doors and windows closed.

There were no reports of any injuries and firefighters have left the scene.

Police are investigating the cause.
