Dramatic images of moment lightning strikes in thunderstorm off the Deal coast

It's being hotly tipped as the steamiest, muggiest day of the year so far.

And if these pictures are anything to go by, Kent's set for a rough ride.

Photographer Shaun Fellows caught these striking images off the coast of Kent at Kingsdown, near Deal, earlier today.

They show the moment of impact - as a huge ship serenely sails past.

Weather forecasters are predicting a mixed bag over the next few hours, with warm and humid conditions and more thunderstorms.

Showers are likely to be heavy and thundery in our region, with showers becoming lighter later... and even the chance of some sunny spells. Temperatures are set to hit a maximum of 25C.

Tonight there will be increased chances of more thunderstorms, with these continuing into tomorrow.

The weekend shows no let-up, with heavy and thundery rain clearing for fine weather later.
