Firefighters tackle a fire in grain silo in Chapel Lane, Ripple near Deal.

Firefighters tackled a fire that broke out in a grain silo in Chapel Lane, Ripple, today.

They were called at around 11am this morning to put out the blaze in a large quantity of beans that were being dried for animal feed.

Crews used two hose reels and a main jet to extinguish the fire from the top of the silo, a storage structure used for holding grains.

They also assisted the farmer in emptying it.

Firefighters left the scene at 1.34pm this afternoon.
