St Crispin Inn in Worth has re-opened under new management

A 15th century pub in Worth has reopened under new ownership.

Mr Blown, who was previously a publican for the Market Inn and Admiral Owen in Sandwich, has taken on this venture with business partner Peter Walford.

Mr Walford is the head chef and has worked in the pub industry for 20 years. He also ran the Jolly Farmer in Manston, famed for its great food.

Mr Blown said: “The atmosphere was so warm. It was full of people chatting just like a good, old fashioned country pub.

“That’s what we wanted to do, to bring it back to life.”

He said a lot of residents in the area were happy to see their local back in business.

Mr Blown said refurbishments have included replacing the carpets and lighting.

He moved to London from his home town of Sandwich a few years ago but when he realised St Crispin Inn was up for sale, he said it was a perfect opportunity and has now moved back home.

He said: “We do know what we’re doing, with a good mix of food and real ale.”

The previous landlord Dean Saunders ran St Crispin Inn for about a year before it closed in January. The menu starts tomorrow and will showcase all homemade food.
