Environment Agency issues flood alert for Kent coast

Environment Agency chiefs are warning of potential flooding tomorrow morning.

The alert is in for force for the coast from Pegwell Bay to Deal including the Tidal Stour.

Flooding is possible for areas from Pegwell Bay to Deal including Sandwich, the Pfizer site and the Tidal Stour between the sea and Stonar Cut.

A small tidal surge is forecast for the high tide at Dover on Sunday at 11.20am.

The alert is principally intended for boat yards on the Tidal Stour in the Sandwich area.

High water at Sandwich will be approximately one hour later than Dover at around 12.20pm.

High water at Grove Ferry will be a further two hours later at around 2.20pm

Some tidal flooding to low-lying land may be experienced but the agency does not expect flooding of property.
