Fundraising day will pay for expert advice about treating Samantha Tregunno's rare bone disorder

Live music and family fun will help raise cash for a Deal mum who suffers from a bone disease that is so rare, she is only the third person in the world to have it.

Samantha Tregunno, 32, was diagnosed with acute transluscent osteoparosis after falling ill when on holiday in Benedorm last year.

Now her family are holding a fun day at the Three Horseshoes Pub in Mongeham on Sunday to pay for a consultation where she can find out about treatment options.

It was a year ago that mother of two Sam was suddenly unable to walk without feeling excruciating pain.

Her mum Michelle Lee said: “My dad has emphysema and has trouble breathing. We had booked a moblity scooter for him, but Sam had to use it.

Samantha is now registered disabled, she is reliant on a wheelchair and crutches, her partner Tristan Baker had to give up work to care for her, and she takes morphine and oramorph regularly.

The condition is so rare, she is the only case in the UK and NHS doctors have had to rely on googling it to find out about it.

Mrs Lee says she has been passed between doctors and specialists and has so far got no answers. Because there are no case studies, they are are unsure whether they can give her a hip replacement or any other treatment so Samantha’s family has pulled together to fundraise. The cash they collect will pay for a consultation at the private Benenden Hospital, where she will find out what treatment is available to her.

With the help of the Three Horseshoes at Mongeham, they will hold a family fun day on Sunday (August 30) with a live Elvis impersonator, bouncy castle, face painting and barbecued food.

It takes place from noon and there will be a raffle and tombola too.

• If you would like to donate a raffle prize or if you are in a band or are a musician and would like to donate a performance on Sunday, please contact Michelle Lee on 07745257846.
