Hundreds of Boxing Day Dippers feel the chill at Deal Pier

The dippers have done it again! With the sun out, a blue sky and chilly sea, mad-cap dippers raced into chilly waves this morning.

About 200 people took part in this year's Boxing Day Dip at Deal Pier, raising cash for Deal Air Cadets and Deal All Stars FC.

Watched by togged-up crowds, the dippers dashed across the shingle at 11am breaking the waves with shrill screams.

The annual tradition always brings out fancy dressers, and this year did not disappoint.

There were Where's Wally, Men dressed in Pink for Breakthrough Breast Cancer, and men in Borat-styled mankinis.

The dip is organised by Deal Icebreakers 1981.

Margaret Edwards from the organisation, said: "The full amount raised is not yet known."

There will be an announcement when they have tallied up the funds, and a presentation will take place for swimmers who took part.
