Campervan woes: Happy ending for trapped Percy

A black and white cat had a lucky escape after spending eight days trapped in a camper van near his home.

Linda and John Ford, of Sandown Road, Deal, noticed their beloved puss, Percy, was missing when he didn’t return to them on Wednesday, January, 20.

They delivered leaflets, knocked on doors, put up signs, searched sheds, garages and wasteland, contacted vets, and spread the word on social media.

Finally, after eight days, they received a call from a woman saying she could see him in her neighbour’s camper van.

The owners of the camper van were out shopping, but fortunately Mr and Mrs Ford were able to contact their son on social media who managed to locate them in Broadstairs.

Mr Ford said: “Thankfully, Percy had suffered no ill-effects after his ordeal and was very happy to see us.

“After filling himself up with food he couldn’t wait to get out after being shut in for so long.”

Mrs Ford said “We hope he doesn’t get up to any more mischief too soon and we would thank everyone who helped us search for him, and in particular to Debbie who saw him in the van and kindly contacted us.”
