A man has been taken to hospital following reports of an assault in Deal.

Police were called to Wellington Road at around 2.05pm.

The victim suffered injuries not believed to be life-threatening, but was taken to a hospital in London.

Officers remain at the scene and part of the road has been cordoned off.

A police spokesman confirmed a 55-year-old man from Deal has been arrested on suspicion of assault.

He added: "Enquiries into the circumstances behind the incident are ongoing."
