Police investigate fire in Tower Hamlets Park, Northbourne Road, Dover

Kent Police are investigating after a fire broke out at Tower Hamlets park on Monday night.

The alarm was raised at 7.15pm when it was reported that a tree was alight in Northbourne Road.

One appliance attended and when the crew arrived, they discovered rubbish had been set alight at the back of the Scout hut.

It took about 20 minutes to extinguish the flames using flex packs.

It is believed the fire was started deliberately.

Kent Police spokeswoman Lisa Humphries said: “Police are investigating a fire in Northbourne Avenue on Monday evening which was reported by Kent Fire and Rescue at 7.40pm.

“A rubber mat was set alight in a shelter in the back of the Scout hut.

"The building was not damaged.”
