Police issue e-fit after man in van approached teenager in Deal

Police have issued an e-fit after a man tried to persuade a young teenager into his van.

The suspicious incident happened in Hunters Walk, Deal.

Officers investigating say the man was in a transit style, white van with a metal roof rack when he asked the 14-year-old girl if she would get in.

When she phoned the police, he sped off.

Police went to the scene and searched the area but did not find the van.

The man was aged between 27 and 35, about 6ft 2, with dark brown or black hair. He was wearing a black t-shirt.

The incident happened at about 3.45pm on Wednesday, January 17, but details have only just emerged.

PC Philip Jones who is investigating the incident said: “We have conducted a number of enquiries since the incident but this week we have been able to finish compiling an e-fit with the help of the victim.

"While we’re treating it as an isolated incident, we are keen to hear from anyone who may recognise the person in the image.

“We would also like to hear from anyone who has CCTV and may have captured the van in the area of Hyton Drive or Hunters Walk.”
