Police charge Deal man Ryan Bailey after seafront stabbing

Police have charged a 37-year-old man from Deal after a stabbing on Walmer seafront on Sunday.

Ryan Bailey, of Glack Road, has been arrested and charged with two counts of assault and one of grievous bodily harm.

He was arrested after a man in his 40s was found with stab wounds to the shoulder and chest area in The Strand, Walmer, at around 7.30pm.

An ambulance spokesman said: “The patient required emergency treatment at the scene before he was taken to William Harvey Hospital, Ashford, and later to King’s College Hospital in London.”

An ambulance, three paramedic cars and an air ambulance road vehicle attended. Bailey, who is believed to be a Deal taxi driver, was later taken into custody and charged on Monday.

He was refused bail and appeared before Medway magistrates via video link on Tuesday.

He remains in custody and is due to appear at Canterbury Crown Court on September 21.
