Police Constable Ian Woodland said: "We understand the effect graffiti can have on the quality of life for residents.

"It can cause upset to many people, as what appears to be big and clever to one person ruins the enjoyment of the area for everybody else.

"It can make parts of the town look unattractive, or make people feel unsafe and increase the fear of crime.

"This is why with our partner agencies we are working hard to reduce the number of incidents and identify those who may be responsible. It is also important that graffiti is removed quickly so that it isn’t seen as acceptable.

"We believe that the incidents reported to us are linked."
