Disabled toilet and changing room opened at Walmer Paddling Pool

A group which works for improvements in Deal has welcomed a new disabled toilet and changing room at Walmer Paddling Pool.

Deal Speaking Up group has been rallying support to help achieve better facilities for disabled people in the town since last year.

Chairman of the group, Chrissie Dubber, met with Kevin Fordham, from Your Leisure, and Dover District Council’s cabinet member Cllr Trevor Bartlett to launch the new facilities last Wednesday.

She said: “We are very pleased to have been able to work with the council and we welcome this great result.

“We have been pressing for this for some time.

“The new toilet and changing room will mean disabled people will be able to take a full and active part in events in the area.”

The work has been completed ahead of schedule in time for the summer and comes as the district council continues to work to improve accessibility across the district.

Cllr Bartlett said: “Walmer Green is a lovely, popular area and these facilities were needed.
