Dover District Council has dashed claims that Deal is one of the worst areas affected by rats.

The authority received just 54 calls in the last year reporting rodents.

The council released the figure after an anonymous claim that CT14 was one of the worst areas where the vermin roam.

But, a spokesman said this was not the case.

The spokesman said: “We are not aware of any particular issues with rats in the district.

“We received 54 calls regarding rats during the last financial year.

“Dover District Council continues to work hard to make sure the district remains clean and safe, and will provide appropriate help and advice and take all appropriate action where we receive reports of rats.”
