Remembering the Merchant Navy seafarers who gave their lives in the wars

Civic dignitaries were among those who attended the Merchant Navy Day memorial service at Dover Town Hall today.

The service was organised by district council chairman Cllr Sue Nicholas, with the Dover and District Merchant Navy Memorial Fund.

It was followed by a wreath-laying ceremony at the Merchant Navy war memorial on Dover seafront.

Standard bearers marched into the Town Hall for the start of the service of celebration, which included an address from Donald Hunter, the founder of the Dover and District Merchant Navy Memorial Fund.
