Andrea Antoniou hairdressers from past 30 years will reunite at the former Deal salon - now JD Wetherspoons

Hairdressers who worked at Deal’s Andrea Antoniou hairdressers in Queen Street are gathering for a reunion.

Former hairdresser Annemarie Huigen (nee Senior) is appealing for more ex-staff members to get in touch in advance of the get-together at the Sir Norman Wisdom pub on Saturday, May 3.

Mrs Huigen, said: “I am trying to track down as many as possible to join us.

“At the time it was the top hairdressers in Deal and had prices to match with a cut and blow Dry £18 - a lot of money in the 1980s.”

The premises was above what was then Brown & Philips - now the JD Wetherspoon’s Sir Norman Wisdom pub, the venue of the reunion.

Mrs Huigen started her traineeship there 31 years ago.

“I was one of the first Youth Opportunity Schemes and got £25 for a 40 hour week How times have changed.

She hopes the picture, taken one Christmas, might be able to job people’s memories and inspire them to get in touch.
