A Dover woman gave birth to a bouncing baby boy shortly after the Duchess of Cambridge gave birth to her bouncing baby boy. Leon Mason was born at 4.37pm in the Folkestone Ward of William Harvey Hospital, Ashford on Monday – just 13 minutes after the heir to the throne.

A Dover woman who proves it is never too late to help improve the area you live in has been given an award. Barbara Hutton, 78, won the Excellent Tenant award for her amazing contribution to her community at the Kent Housing Groups’ Excellence Awards.

Susan Taylor, who died while trying to swim the Channel, didn’t want medals or awards – she just wanted to pick up a pebble from the French coast where she landed. The 34-year-old’s ambition was revealed by her coach Paul Ferrier during an interview about the tragic events which took place when Mrs Taylor was just a mile from France.

Final preparations are being made for the Dover Community Regatta this Saturday – and teams are completing their training for the Port Dash rowing event that will be one of the highlights of the day.
