A woman who was raped repeatedly has been praised by police for coming forward to report the offences. Peter Breeden, 68, of Harold Street, Dover, has been jailed for 17 years.

Planners are being asked to give the go-ahead for the redevelopment of the St James’ area of Dover. The scheme would involve the demolition of buildings including the Burlington House office block.

The victim of a sex attacker has told of her anger that he has escaped going straight to prison. Malcolm Nix, 53, had been convicted of sexually assaulting his victim, a mother from Thanet in her 20s. The victim broke down in tears at Canterbury Crown Court when Nix was given a suspended prison sentence.

Teenagers who still jump off piers and jetties into the sea at Dover are being given fresh warnings not to do it after a teenager was injured at another seaside town.
