After 20 years sharing football kits with the boys, girls at Kingsdown and Ringwould Primary School now have their own kit.

The move has been made possible through a sponsorship deal with Danni Jenner-Relf who organises the Dance with Danni Dance School.

School deputy head Kevin Fletcher said: “The very excited players spent time thumbing through the catalogues before deciding to go for a pink and black strip.

“When it came there was a chorus of “Cool!” from the girls. They are delighted with the strip and can’t wait for the next game to show it off.

“The new kit also blends in perfectly with the pink charity day being organised by the school to support our charities for this year, which are Demelza House and Breast Cancer UK.

“So far this season the girls are unbeaten in their league games and only went out of the cup final in a penalty shoot-out.

“They are now looking forward to extending this run in their fantastic new strip.”

The team showed off their new colours for a Mercury photo call on Friday when the school pupils were also taking part in their Pink Day to support Breast Cancer UK. The good cause is one of the school’s charities for the year, along with Demelza House near Sittingbourne.

Kerry Rubins from Deal, ambassador for Breakthrough Breast Cancer, visited the school to talk about fundraising and met Jamie Caldwell and Luke Mashford, the representatives who organised the Pink Day for the school’s Breast Cancer UK charity.

Pupils dressed in pink and donated £1 and Miss Rubins spoke about the importance of fundraising and how the children’s money would be spent.

Luke Mashford said “My aunt Jo White is undergoing treatment at the moment, so it means even more to me to support this charity.”
