POLICE investigating a hit-and-run incident before Christmas in which a woman was knocked down have released new information in an appeal for witnesses.

Officers would like to speak to the driver of a dark coloured 4x4 which was travelling directly behind the white Peugeot 205 that collided with 83-year-old Cicely Hearn in Deal.

Mrs Hearn suffered two badly broken legs and a serious head injury and has been in hospital ever since. She was transferred from Margate’s QEQM Hospital to a hospital in Deal just over a week ago and is making slow but steady progress.

She will be in hospital for at least two more months and the incident has caused some permanent damage to her eyesight.

The collision occurred just before 5pm on Friday, December 22, as Mrs Hearn was crossing London Road in Deal.

The driver of the dark coloured 4x4 is asked to contact the Serious Collision Investigation Unit on 01622 798537.

Police are also still trying to trace the driver of the Peugeot and would like to hear from anyone who thinks they know who was driving it, or from garages that dealt with repairs to the front of a Peugeot 205 over the Christmas period.
