Police are trying to trace two men who went to the aid of a woman when she was attacked and robbed in Dover early on Sunday.

The 26-year-old woman was walking along Effingham Street at the junction of Saxon Street at 2.45am when a man approached her, punched her in the face and pushed her to the ground.

He grabbed her iPhone and ran off towards the town centre. The suspect is described as black, aged 18 to 21, 5ft 10in tall with an Afro hairstyle. He had an ADIDAS rucksack.

The suspect was chased to Pencester Gardens, where two other men stopped and confronted him. The suspect emptied his rucksack out but the phone was not seen. He then walked off towards the Co-op store at Stembrook.

Police say they would like to speak to the two men who helped chase and confront the suspect.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Sergeant Shelley Chantler on 101 quoting crime reference ZY/33224/13 or call Kent Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
