Dover Athletic manager Chris Kinnear believes latest signing Liam Bellamy typifies the type of player he wants to see wearing a Whites shirt next season.

The 21-year-old midfielder has signed from Ebbsfleet United, where he made appearances 35 last season, having previously been at Brentford.

Kinnear said: “He’s young and athletic and wants to get back into the (Football) League and he is prepared to work hard to achieve that.”

Whites fans will get their first look at Bellamy, along with fellow new signings Nathan Elder, Craig Stone and Michael Bakare, when Dover host Dagenham & Redbridge in their opening friendly on Saturday (3pm).

The Daggers began their pre-season campaign with a 4-0 win at Whitstable Town last Saturday, with Kinnear adding: “
“Dagenham started training before us and because they are full-time, they are training every day so they are going to be ahead in terms of fitness.

“Obviously, it’s early for us but it will be a good chance for our players to loosen up and stretch their legs.”

Goalkeeper Mitch Walker signed a new two-year contract on Tuesday night and Kinnear expects midfielder Barry Cogan to have agreed a new deal by the weekend.
