Dover Athletic secured their place in the Blue Square Bet South play-offs with victory at Staines Town on Tuesday.

Second-half goals from Ben May and Steven Thomson earned Whites their first win in five matches and also lifted them back into third place in the table.

Manager Chris Kinnear said: "It was a good performance. We created loads of chances and, although we didn't convert all of them, there was only ever going to be one winner."

The one worry for Kinnear was an injury to Tyrone Sterling. The centre-half took a blow on the foot which could rule him out of Saturday's final league game at Bromley, where Dover will be looking for the three points which will ensure they finish third - and so enjoy home advantage in the second leg of the play-off semi-finals.

Kinnear added: "It doesn't worry me too much, but being at home in the second leg is a big help."
