Goals at either end of the game put Dover Athletic in control of their Blue Square Bet South play-off semi-final against Eastleigh.

The home side went into Tuesday night’s game on the back of a nine-match unbeaten run but it was Chris Kinnear’s Whites who seized the initiative.

Moses Ademola (pictured) gave them a dream start when he pounced on a defensive error to open the scoring after just 20 seconds.

A fine strike from Ben May put the Whites 2-0 up on 17 minutes and in control of the tie. May chested the ball down and volleyed into the corner from 25 yards.

After the break, Eastleigh upped the pressure and they reduced the deficit through just after the hour when Chris Zebroski struck from close-range.

However, their cause was not helped when Adam Watkins was shown a straight red card for striking Dover’s Ricky Modeste.

Dover preserved their lead and then extended it with time running out when Daryl McMahon curled home a free-kick against his former club.

The hosts finished with nine men when Michael Green was shown a second yellow card in stoppage-time.

Dover: Walker, Kamara, Wynter, Rance, Simpemba, Sterling, Modeste, McMahon, May, Ottaway (Bricknell 74mins), Ademola. Subs not used: Willock, Webb, Sessegnon, Hook. Attendance: 915.
