Dover Athletic manager Chris Kinnear has added three more players to his squad ahead of Saturday’s opening The Skrill South game at Gosport Borough.

Striker Elliott Charles, who made 17 appearances for Whites in the 2010-11 season, has signed a one-year contract while Kinnear has also registered two other players who have been on trial in pre-season, defender Richard Orlu, who was at Canvey Island last season and midfielder Chris Kinnear, the manager’s son.

Jake Leberl, Whites’ assistant-manager, said: “We were keen to get (23-year-old) Elliott back here because he suits what we are trying to do.

“He was only 19 when he was here before and will have learned a lot in those four years. He offers us something a little bit different and makes us a little bit more flexible in our formations. We don’t want to be a rigid side that plays the same formation every week.”

Charles meanwhile has vowed to erase the memory of the injury problems which marred his first spell at Crabble.

The former Barnet player joined Whites in August 2010 but his promising partnership with Adam Birchall was spoilt by a hamstring injury which meant Charles was sidelined for over half the season and he then left Crabble at the end of the campaign.

He said: “I enjoyed my first spell at Dover. I thought the fans were very supportive and it was unfortunate about the injury but it’s fine now.”

Whites will have a full squad available for the Gosport game with the exception of midfielder Liam Bellamy, who is ruled out by ankle and knee injuries.
