A Kent Fire and Rescue Service spokesman told Kent Online: "The fire is believe to have been cause accidentally, through an electrical fault in the engine."

The car had been on the Dover Eastern Docks-bound carriageway.

Other vehicles were able to safely get past while firefighters worked to wipe out the flames.

This was done in less than 10 minutes and the crew then moved the car from the carriageway.

KFRS said that there were no reported injuries.

Jubilee Way had been the scene of a severe crash just last Wednesday between three cars and a lorry several hundred yards uphill.

The day ended in tragedy when, a couple of hours later, a man fell to his death from an overhead bridge.
