It happened on a footpath which leads from Cherry Tree Avenue to the River Dour.

DS Ben Loose from the CID team at Folkestone Police Station said: "The victim was a wheelchair-bound 56 year-old woman who says she says she was approached by two young men, perhaps teenagers.

"The woman also says she saw a woman passing by close to the time the incident happened, who may have further information which could help us bring the offenders to justice. I would urge the witness – or anyone else with any information – to contact me."

One of the youths was slim, aged 13 to 19, and had dark or tanned skin. He was clean shaven and was wearing a dark-coloured hooded top and trousers as well as dark-coloured trainers with white soles.

The second was also clean-shaven and was wearing dark clothing.
