Dover mum guilty of benefit fraud in excess of £30,000

A Dover mum will be forced to pay back more than £30,000 after she pleaded guilty to benefit fraud.

Stacey Terry, 34, from Beaufoy Terrace, will also have to complete a 50 hours community punishment order within one year, it was decided at Folkestone Magistrates Court on Thursday.

Miss Terry had been receiving Housing Benefit, Council Tax Benefit and Income Support while living with an undeclared partner.

On the application forms, she had failed to declare that she had a partner. She was overpaid more than £30,000.

Following the successful prosecution by Dover District Council and the Department for Work and Pensions, Miss Terry will also have to pay court costs of £85.
