Kitchen fire damages property in Dover

Firefighters tackled a blaze which broke out in a kitchen in Dover.

Crews were called at around 6pm last night to Valley Road, where a fire at the back of a built-in oven had spread to kitchen worktops.

The fire caused heat damage to wall mounted units and tiling.

Crews used breathing apparatus, a hose reel jet and a fan to tackle and contain the fire.

They also used the ventilation fan to clear the property of smoke. It is believed to have been caused by an electrical fault within the oven.
