Former Take That drummer Steve Washington Tate jailed for assaulting police officer in Dover

A former Take That drummer has been jailed for assaulting a police officer in Dover.

Steve Washington Tate, of Edred Road, pleaded guilty to the offence and was sentenced on Monday, November 9, at Thanet Magistrates’ Court.

On September 6, the 54-year-old assaulted a police officer in Edred Road.

Tate was given 110 days in prison but due to the offence being committed during the operational period of a suspended sentence, the overall length is 170 days.

He must also pay £250 compensation.

Tate played the drums alongside popular band Take That during the height of their fame in the 1990s.

He also went on tour with Texas in 2001, and has performed with Whitney Houston.
