Graham Bird, of Deanwood Road, will be manning the barbecue in the pub garden and is doing this in aid of his wife, Louise, who was first diagnosed with bowel cancer in August 2012, aged 34.

Mrs Bird said: “Following radiotherapy and several lots of surgery I am continuing to fight on with my second round of chemotherapy at present to keep things at bay.

She added: “Cancer has affected our family unfortunately before over the years, with other members of the family and close friends too. We are like so many other families out there, which is why we hope it will be well supported by people.”

For those who cannot attend, Mr Bird has created a Just Giving page, which has already racked up £50 worth of donations.
