Alleged gunman arrested after armed siege in Whitfield released on bail

An alleged gunman arrested during an armed siege in Whitfield has been released on bail.

The 42-year-old man from Dover was taken into custody following a five-hour stand-off with firearms officers on Tuesday evening.

The drama unfolded at the office of Mowll and Mowll solicitors in Gordon Road at around 4pm, and continued until 9.30pm.

The suspect was questioned on suspicion of possessing a firearm, before being released on bail yesterday evening until Monday, September 26.

A police spokesman said: "Enquiries into the incident are ongoing."
