Hundreds of cannabis plants have been confiscated from a property in Dover after a fire broke out on Tuesday.

Kent Police was called to an address in Clarendon Place on March 25 to reports of a blaze in the basement of a two-storey building.

Whilst on the scene, officers seized equipment believed to be used for the cultivation of cannabis and between 300 and 500 plants, which could be worth more than half a million pounds.

Dover firefighters attended at 3.05pm using breathing apparatus and put out the blaze using two hose reels and a hydrant.

No injuries were reported.

A police spokesman said investigations into the cause of the fire and the confiscated drugs are on-going.
