Land Rover run from Capel Le Ferne to France raising money for Cystic Fibrosis Holiday Fund

A charity Land Rover run from Capel Le Ferne to France hopes to raise lots of money for the Cystic Fibrosis Holiday Fund.

The Classic Land Rover Run is in its fifth year and will see vintage Land Rovers from between 1948 to 1975 taking the journey from the Battle of Britain Memorial in Capel to Le Touquet in France.

So far they have managed to raise over £1,700 and hope to reach their target of £25,000.

Peter Wales, 50, one of the organisers from Bromley said: “It’s a family event and will see over 100 people taking part.”

It will start on Saturday, May 10, at 8am, and will be heading over on the ferry to France a couple of hours later.

The series one and series two club in Kent decided to raise money for the holiday fund as a friend’s son suffers from Cystic Fibrosis.

Mr Wales, an IT programmer added: “We’re starting at the Battle of Britain memorial and what we’re looking to do is line up all the Land Rovers and have a shot of us looking across the Channel.

The route will take them from Kent to Calais, Cap Blanc Nez, Boulogne and Le Touquet on the Saturday.

Then Le Touquet, Boulogne, Sangatte, Calais and back to Dover on Sunday.
