A258 Deal Road closed at Martin Mill due to crash

A head-on crash has closed the main road between Dover and Deal this evening.

One man had to be cut free from a vehicle by firefighters after the crash involving three vehicles closed the A258 in both directions at 4.45pm.

Long tailbacks are being reported throughout the area and drivers are advised to take an alternative route while emergency services deal with the crash.

A police spokesman said no serious injuries have been reported but the road in the Oxney Bottom section was closed completely while recovery took place.

A fire service spokesman added: "A man was trapped in one of the cars and crews used hydraulic cutting equipment to release him. SECAmb were also at the incident.

"The collision involved two cars (travelling in either direction) and a van.

"Crews gained access by cutting the front driver’s door open using hydraulic cutters and spreaders to gain room for the paramedics to access and treat the casualty before KFRS assisted SECAmb crews to release and remove him."

Bus services are also delayed because of the closure.

Drivers have reported seeing three ambulances and a fire engine heading towards the scene.
