Erith Street: Dover man arrested over 'deliberate' fire

A 54-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a fire in Dover.

The fire is believed to be the same that began at an outbuilding, before spreading to a three-storey building in George Street containing flats.

There were no reported injuries, but the roof of the residential building was damaged.

A police spokesman said: "Police officers were called to the scene in Erith Street at 9.14pm yesterday, where an outside storage area had been deliberately set alight."

A man from Dover was arrested at the scene on suspicion of arson.

He remains in custody while enquiries are ongoing.
