Man hit by car at Maison Dieu Road, Dover, air ambulance called

A man has been flown to hospital with head injuries after being hit by a car.

The accident, involving a red Ford Mondeo, happened this afternoon in Maison Dieu Road at the junction with Crafford Street in Dover.

The Kent, Surrey and Sussex Air Ambulance was called just before 12.30pm and the helicopter landed at the Astor College playing fields.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police is attending a report of a collision in Maison Dieu Road."

"Officers were called to the collision involving a pedestrian and a car at 12.32pm.

"A man has sustained injuries and is being taken to a London hospital. "

An air ambulance spokesman said: "We were called to a road traffic collision in Dover, and landed at Astor College.

"The helicopter’s doctor and paramedic assisted South East Coast Ambulance paramedics in treating the patient who was flown to the regional Major Trauma Centre at King’s College Hospital in London.”

A bystander was able to photograph the scene of the helicopter, a fire engine, police car and ambulance at the fields.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that they had been called to help the ambulance crews.

Maison Dieu Road, which was closed for around five hours, has since reopened.
