Jury sworn in for trial of Jonathon Cudworth, accused of murdering wife Mariola in Eastry

The jury in the murder trial of Jonathon Cudworth has been sworn in at Canterbury Crown Court.

The 34-year-old is accused of killing his wife Mariola Cudworth – who was found dead in a field after going missing earlier this year.

Cudworth has denied murdering Mariola between April 27 and May 5 and the trial is expected to last into the new year.

Mrs Cudworth - who was also known as Mijka - was reported missing from her home in Northbourne, Deal on Thursday, April 30 and her body was later found near Eastry.

Prosecutor Philip Bennetts QC is expected to begin his opening address on Wednesday morning. Cudworth is defended by Oliver Saxby QC.
