A 50-year-old man was taken to hospital after he was found unconscious in the early hours of this morning.

Firefighters were called to the house on Leyburne Road, Dover at 2.47am and forced entry into the house after being able to smell burning.

Fire crew discovered no fire, but recently cooked burnt food, which was still hot.

Cooking appliances were already turned off.

The man was treated at the scene for the effects of non-life threatening smoke inhalation and taken to William Harvey Hospital for further assessment and treatment.
