Migrants from Iraq and Iran found in refrigerated lorry in Surrey and brought to Dover

A total 13 suspected migrants have been rescued from a lorry’s refrigerated trailer - after they called police.

Officers say they were checked over by paramedics and the 10 known adults were taken to and detained in Dover.

The other three, claiming to be children, were handed over to social service.

They all said they were from Iraq an Iran.

They were originally found yesterday just after 3pm at Junction 11 of the clockwise M25 near Chertsey and taken in by Surrey Police.

A spokesman for the force said: “Officers attended Junction 11 following concerns for the welfare of people reported to be travelling in a lorry.

"Police received the call at around 3.10pm from people inside the trailer of the refrigerated lorry.

"Upon attendance 13 suspected illegal immigrants were located. They were checked over by paramedics at the location.

"The matter has been passed to Immigration Enforcement."

Catherine Ellis, spokesman for the Home Office's Immigrant Enforcement section, said today: "Thirteen males who presented themselves as being from Iraq and Iran were arrested by police for suspected immigration offences.

" Ten men are detained and will be interviewed by immigration officials.

" Three claimed minors have been passed into the care of social services to be age-assessed.

" Where someone has no right to remain in the UK, we will take action to remove them."
