Police have sealed off a pedestrian subway after an early-morning assault on a man was reported.
The attack is said to have happened in the underpass beneath the A2 in Whitfield in the early hours of this morning.
Officers are now investigating the incident and the subway, in Honeywood Road, has been closed off to the public while inquiries are carried out.
A police spokesman said: "It is likely to remain closed until late this evening and members of the public are advised to seek alternative routes if planning to visit the area."
