Police search home in Folkestone Road in Dover for gun

Armed police descended on a Dover home in search of a suspected handgun.

More than 10 officers with sniffer dogs were seen at the scene in Folkestone Road last night after reports a man had been seen with the weapon.

They spent more than three hours looking for the firearm but to no avail.

A police spokesman said: “We were called at 9.15pm on Friday, January 12 regarding a report that a man had been seen with what was believed to be a handgun at an address in Folkestone Road, Dover.

“Officers attended the scene and carried out a search of the premises where no firearms were found and no offences were identified.”
