The occupants of a house returned home last night to find their house up in flames.

Firefighters had been called to Winchelsea Street in Dover at about 4pm yesterday, where a bedroom was well alight.

Two appliances, one from Dover and the other from Folkestone, tackled the blaze which had began spreading for about two hours.

The cause of the fire is not yet known and is under investigation.

The extent of the damage has not yet been confirmed.
